|Vimpex Sponsors World’s Toughest Female Firefighter to Gold Success
Vimpex Ltd are proud to have sponsored the World’s Toughest Female Firefighter, Suzanne Enghed, as she struck gold yet again - taking the top prize at an international competition to recognise the best of the best in the Police and Fire Service.
The 34-year-old, who works as a full-time firefighter at Cheltenham West fire station, took two gold medals at the 20th World Police and Fire Games, which took place in Belfast in August. A total of 67 countries entered the competition this year, with more than 6,500 competitors taking part in 56 sports and events. Thanks to the support of her sponsor Vimpex, Suzanne was able to travel and compete in the games.
Suzanne won Gold Medals in the Stair Climb and as the Ultimate Firefighter following four challenges testing her strength, speed and firefighter skills as well as a gruelling obstacle course. The Ultimate Firefighter Gold was a step up on Suzanne’s Silver, which she won at the last World Police and Fire Games in New York in 2011.
Chief Fire Officer Jon Hall said: “Once again Suzanne has represented herself and the service in an incredible way with the latest in her outstanding successes. We are extremely proud of everything she has achieved in and out of the Service.”
Suzanne, who’s no stranger to coming top in the toughest contests across the globe, will be recognised at the prestigious Women of the Year 2013 lunch at London’s Intercontinental hotel on 14th October.
Suzanne was also congratulated recently by Master Beryl Jeffries of the Worshipful Company of Firefighters when she visited the Gloucester fire station in recognition of Suzanne's achievements.
